Your profile is independent of any organization you belong to. It travels with you across orgs and is the authoritative source for your name, email, and authentication factors.

Editing your profile

From Settings → Profile, you can update:
  • Display name — shown in shared datasets, comments, and audit logs.
  • Email — the primary identifier for sign-in. Changing it requires confirming the new address.
  • Time zone — used for date formatting in the UI and PDF exports. Detected from your browser by default.
  • Theme — Light, Dark, or System. Stored locally per browser.
  • Verbose logging — useful for debugging chart issues. Off by default.

Password and MFA

For users on the email + password sign-in path:
  • Change password — current password required. New password must be at least 12 characters, with no length cap.
  • Reset MFA — removes your TOTP factor. You’ll be prompted to re-enroll on next sign-in. Use this if you’ve changed devices.
  • View active sessions — list of devices and IP addresses with active sessions. Revoke individually or all-at-once.
If your account is SSO-backed and your IdP doesn’t allow self-service password reset, the password fields are hidden — your IdP is the source of truth for credentials.

Email verification

When you change your email, Summand:
  1. Marks the new address as Pending verification.
  2. Sends a verification code to the new address.
  3. Until you enter the code, your old address is still your primary identifier.
  4. After verification, the new address becomes primary.
Verification codes expire after 15 minutes. Resend from the Settings → Profile page if you miss it.

Deleting your account

Self-serve account deletion is in Settings → Profile → Delete account. Effects:
  • All datasets you own are transferred to your organization’s owner (Enterprise) or deleted (Free / Pro).
  • Grants you’ve made are revoked.
  • Audit history of your actions is preserved (you’re identified by user ID, not email, in old logs).
  • Your email is freed; another user can sign up with it later.
Account deletion is reversible only within 7 days via support@summand.com. After 7 days, all references to the user are anonymized and unrecoverable.

Notification preferences

Per-user notification preferences live in Settings → Notifications:
  • Dataset shared with me — email when someone grants you access.
  • Analysis completed — email when a long-running analysis finishes.
  • Billing alerts (org owners only) — email for failed payments, upcoming renewals.
  • Product updates — opt-in newsletter; off by default.
Email digests are batched — you won’t get one notification per share grant if 20 datasets are shared at once.
